University Racing Eindhoven

URE is a student team of the Eindhoven University of Technology. The team stands for technological innovation, teamwork, and a passion for engineering. By competing in the Formula Student competition, the world's largest engineering design competition. We try to push ourselves and our cars to new limits! Using a combination of the engineering skills of all the members and some help from our dear partners, we are able to build a high-tech, innovative electric, and autonomous Formula-style race car every year. The determination to be the very best comes from a passion for engineering that lies deep within every one of the team members, resulting in something epic year after year.

Full time board year

During the 2021-2022 season, I did a full-time year being the driverless and accumulator manager. During this year a learned a great many things. Being a manager requires you to be agile, proactive, and assertive. Designing, building, and testing a race car in one year can only be accomplished with great planning. Making sure the team is working to its fullest potential, and managing the cooperation with the partners is needed for success. Being the manager of different departnments within this team allowed me te learn from many engineers with different backgrounds, greatly expanding my knowledge and management skills

Accumulator

The accumulator department was a great place to learn and expand my knowledge in different fields of engineering. Designing a high-voltage battery pack needs both mechanical and electrical engineers, and from both, I was able to learn a lot. During the year I was able to apply some of my gained knowledge and design and engineer some parts of the accumulator myself. Building this whole battery pack gave me a lot of in-depth knowledge of the technology and the workings of high voltage battery packs powering the cars of today and the future. Getting hands on expirience also learned me a great many thing about the safety aspects concerend with working on high voltage batteries

Autonomous Systems

The Autonomous systems department also was a great place to learn the ins and outs of autonomous driving. Learning things about the software controlling the car but also the extra hardware needed in the vehicle. Because I do not have such good skills and knowledge in coding that I could help the part-timers, it was extra important that I managed everything well. This required me to be proactive and preempt every possible problem so that I could gather the right people for the job well in advance. Managing this department made me learn a lot of things about autonomous driving, as well as the chalanges the come with it.

Part-Time

After my board year I spent another two years being a part-time member of URE. To see all of my work as a part-time member, click the button below
